Beer doesn't quench thirst?

Post by clementvw » Fri Jul 20, 2018 12:16 am

Beer doesn't seem to quench thirst.
10 beers made a difference of 1 hour, i forgot if that was positive or negative,
maybe it's food, havent checked that but i doubt it.

I believe Mit said it's supposed to be a wellbeing item (once wellbeing is active again)

Should quench thirst (I'll double-check when I get home later). If you're just looking at your time till dead, are you sure it's thirst that's your problem?

Beer quenched plenty of my thirst, more than Tea would.

Edit: Looking at "..you'll die of thirst in approximately x days and z hours", seems a bit odd perhaps, not sure if it's just me not able to look at it logically enought, but having none beers stocked, sets me to approximately 3 days and 13 hours. if i add 1 beer to stock, it sets me to 3 days and 20 hours. But this is what i don't understand: if i add more beers it stays on 3 days and 20 hours. shouldn't that increase?

I think mostly you're dieing of hunger, but by the time you die you're thirsty too, and thats what message it puts up. (so the message is somewhat incorrect!)

Here's what I believe is happening:
- survival time of 3days 20 hours is about a year and 6 months game time (for example purposes lets say.. 540 gamedays)
- When at rest you'll drink a beer every about once a month. (which is extreme sobriety in my book)

Day 30 - you're starting to get hungry and thirsty, you drink a beer.. no longer thirsty
Day 60 - you're now a bit hungry, a bit thirsty again, so you drink another beer.. no longer thirsty
Day 90 - you're now quite hungry, a bit thirsty again, so you drink another beer.. no longer thirsty
Day 120 - you're now hungry, starting to lose health, a bit thirsty again, so you drink another beer.. no longer thirsty
Day 150 - you're now hungry, losing health, a bit thirsty again, so you drink another beer.. no longer thirsty
Day 180 - you're extremely hungry, losing health, a bit thirsty again, so you drink another beer.. no longer thirsty
.. this continues until you run out of beer and your thirst starts increasing.. lets say your beer lasts for about a year
Day 360 - Hunger is maxed, losing health, starting to get thirsty
Day 440 - Hunger is maxed, thirst is maxed, losing health rapidly
Day 540 - Dead

So first thing thats wrong is that it says 'Die of thirst' when the main reason is that you've spent the previous 300 days starving. (and hence.. increasing the amount of beer you've got makes no difference coz your hunger is still the factor). Next client, I've changed the message so that if both hunger and thirst are maxed when you die it says 'Die of hunger and thirst' which makes more sense.
I think perhaps what it also needs is a display indicating when you'll run out of food and drink.. so in the example above it'd say:

' You're out of food'
' You''ll run out of drink in 2 and a half days realtime'
'You'll die of hunger and thirst in 3 days 20 hours'

which is something i'll look at later.
